After a couple of stops, a dodgy looking character in a track suit of army camouflage, sat opposite us but 1 row of seats away. He was fidgety and fiddling with something in his pockets and just seemed odd. Unbeknownst to me, Emily also noticed him. My immediate thought was: mmm, keep an eye on him, what is he up to. Now, only a few days earlier Emily and I had had a conversations about suicide bombers and extremists, so as you can imagine that is exactly where Emily's thoughts took her. But she didn't tell me she was worried! Fortunately he got off a few stops later and obviously, because we have spoken to you, we didn't die in a bomb blast! It was only when he got off that I found out how worked up Emily got herself. I thought she hadn't even noticed him since she had her head in her phone reading. But she had indeed seen him and her mind raced. She was almost hyperventilating imagining that he was fiddling with a detonator in his pockets and that this was the end, we were going to die!! Of course when she told me I laughed. Finally she laughed too and now can see the funny side. It is good that she is cautious and aware of her surroundings though!
Emily was so excited when we got off the train. We were literally at the gates to Disney! We caught the bus back to the hotel to check in and lucky for us, our room was ready so we wouldn't need to store our luggage for the day! Our room was so cute - it was decorated in a "Cars" theme.
The first thing Emily and I said to each other was: Mitchy would love this! It was so cool. We were staying in "Sally's" block. After dumping our gear we headed to the magical kingdom.
Once again we were very lucky with the weather! Our first stop was space mountain! I have to say Ken and Mitch, that space mountain in Hong Kong was better. Probably because it was newer, it was so much smoother. I didn't enjoy it as much in Paris.
At first I didn't take the camera with me. I figured it would get in the way if we were going to go on rides and we took Emily's camera. But within a couple of hours I decided to go back to the hotel and get it to take photos while the weather was good. Euro Disney is much bigger than Hong Kong so we explored other lands. It also consists of 2Parks.
Frontier land was pretty cool as was adventure land. The waiting times for rides was not too bad. The longest we had to wait was 45 min. Most were between 15 and 30min. A few we went on only had 5min wait! We went on a pirates of the Caribbean ride, but that was a bit disappointing. Very tame, and it didn't have anything to do with jack sparrow! My new favorite ride is big thunder mountain! It was awesome and by far the longest ride. It's a roller coaster, but no spirals or upside down. A bit like the mine ride at dreamworld actually.
We had dinner included in our package and had a choice of restaurants in the 2 parks, Disney village or back at the hotel. We opted for the only restaurant that was open in park on our list. It was an all you could eat buffet with loads of yummy foods. Ken would've loved it and they even had nuggets for Mitch!
We watched the Disney dreams nightly show at 9pm which included the fire works. It was still Christmas themed but amazing. So much better than Hong Kong. Emily filmed the whole thing on her camera.
And of course the parades were also amazing!
Just as the evening fireworks finished it started to very lightly rain. With the mass exodus from the park and big queues for the buses it was about 10.30pm before we got back to our room dog tired.
Monday morning didn't start very well weather wise. It was lightly raining and we expected to spend the day in the rain. We were able to enter the park at 8am as we were hotel guests. So that gave us an extra 2 hours in the park before the general public. It was great because it meant less queuing times on rides. We discovered another cool ride - one that Emily particularly liked. "Peter pans flight". You sat in a pirate ship and 'flew' over London to never land! We then again went on big thunder mountain before watching the Christmas parade.
Then it was off to explore Walt Disney studios park.
Here we found Radiator Springs and Toy story world.
I have to say that the best ride for me now was "Crush's Coaster". Based on nemo the movie, you hop into a turtle shell and ride the east Australian current. It was awesome fun!
Dad, you really must fulfill mums wish and take her to Disney land! The atmosphere is terrific and the parades alone are great, let alone the nightly fireworks display!
Our bus transfer to the airport left at 4.10pm and as it turns out we could've stayed at the park for another hour as the transfer was only 45min (we thought it was 2hours). Our flight was at 7.30 and landed back in Frankfurt at 9pm. It was another massive day to top off a fabulous 5 days in Paris. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to share it with Emily.
I think it's safe to say she had a wonderful experience in Paris as did I.
Till next time,
Yvette x
